“Anora” Screening and Q&A
As part of After School Special: The 2026 School of Visual Arts Alumni Film & Animation Festival, we are pleased to present a screening of the Oscar-winning film, Anora (2024), which won five 2025 Academy Awards, including Best Picture. Join production sound mixer Boris Krichevsky (BFA 2017 Film) after the film for a Q&A that will detail his time on set with the director, cast, and crew.
Synopsis: A young stripper from Brooklyn impulsively marries the son of Russian oligarchs, but her fairy tale is threatened when his parents set out for New York to get the marriage annulled.
Anora originally opened in theatres in October 2024. It was nominated for six 2025 Academy Awards and won five, including Best Picture. It also won Cannes Film Festival’s prestigious Palme d’Or.
Anora is rated R for strong sexual content throughout, graphic nudity, pervasive language, and drug use. Children under 17 will not be admitted without an adult, and children under 13 may not be admitted.
Doors will open approximately 30 minutes prior to each screening. Guests can enjoy a special selection of music videos from Annapurna Interactive’s RPG Musical, People of Note, in the lobby while waiting to enter. Alumni from SVA’s BFA Computer Art, Computer Animation and Visual Effects program — Timothy Doolen and Ben Meyer — served on the creative team of the video game.
