An Evening with Taraji P. Henson
Saturday, October 15, 2016 7:00 pm
Event hosted by: The Hudson Union Society
The Hudson Union is one of New York City’s most celebrated institutions that provides a special intimate place where leaders connect directly with the public. The Hudson Union is known as an essential cultural force with an eclectic range of leaders regularly visiting, speaking unfiltered, and challenging conventional beliefs.
The Hudson Union presents an evening with the Academy and Emmy Award-nominated Taraji P. Henson, one of the most recognized actors in television and film. Henson presently stars as Cookie on one of the most watched television shows, Empire. She starred opposite Brad Pitt in David Fincher’s The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and she has starred in the films Hustle & Flow, The Karate Kid, Baby Face, and Tyler Perry’s films The Family That Preys, and I Can Do Bad All By Myself. On television she has appeared in CSI, Boston Legal, and Person of Interest.
In the film Hustle & Flow, she provided the vocals for the Three 6 Mafia track, “Its Hard Out Here for a Pimp,” which went on to win an Academy Award for Best Original Song.
Few people have gone from growing up in Washington D.C. to becoming a “Queen” of Hollywood. She will share her journey with the pitfalls, disappointments, and challenges. Each paid attendee will receive her hardcover memoir, Around The Way Girl.
