As part of After School Special: The 2018 School of Visual Arts Alumni Film & Animation Festival, we are pleased to present a special 3D screening of the blockbuster Marvel Studios film, Black Panther (2018). Following the film, we’ll be joined by three SVA alumni for a special Q&A — “Black Panther” comic book artist and author Shawn Martinbrough (BFA 1993 Illustration), animator Ruel Smith (BFA 2004 Computer Art), and visual effects artist Wendi Harris Wu (MFA 2014 Computer Art). The film will be preceded by the world premiere of the short film Mario and The Powerglove, by SVA alumnus Joseph Petrick (BFA 2004 Film and Video).  The Q&A will be moderated by current student Maya Mendonca (BFA 2020 Computer Art, Computer Animation and Visual Effects).
Synopsis: T’Challa, heir to the hidden but advanced kingdom of Wakanda, must step forward to lead his people into a new future and must confront a challenger from his country’s past.
Black Panther is rated PG-13, and some material may be inappropriate for children under the age of 13. Children under the age of 5 may not be admitted.
…. And come early to enjoy augmented and virtual reality and music video experiences in the lobby.
