Join Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS for a special screening of AKRON, a new, award-winning independent film that puts a progressive, Midwestern spin on a classic family drama.
Created by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS’ national grants program manager and first-time screenwriter Brian O’Donnell with co-director Sasha King, AKRON tells the story of college freshmen Benny and Christopher, whose budding relationship is tested when a past tragic event involving their mothers comes to light. This revelation tests their love and Benny’s close-knit family. AKRON shows what it is like when gay men don’t have to leave their families for acceptance, where people are not so different after all.
A short panel discussion with the film’s creative team and cast, including Broadway’s Andréa Burns (On Your Feet!), will be held immediately after the screening.
This special event will be the New York City premiere of AKRON, which has screened at 12 festivals and garnered five awards to date.
Doors open at 7 pm.
Proceeds from the screening benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.  Please click the ticket icon above to purchase tickets.
