As part of After School Special: The 2023 School of Visual Arts Alumni Film & Animation Festival, we are pleased to present a screening of Call Jane (2022), preceded by the short documentary film Under G-d (2023), and followed by a Q&A with the films’ respective cinematographers, SVA alumni Greta Zozula (BFA 2010 Film and Video) and Jenni Morello (MFA 2011 Social Documentary Film).  The Q&A will be moderated by current SVA student Ariana Gonzalez (BFA 2024 Film).

Synopsis of Call Jane: A married woman with an unwanted pregnancy lives in a time in America when she can’t get a legal abortion and works with a group of suburban women to find help.

Synopsis of Under G-d: Inspired by the lived experiences of Jewish women, lawsuits are currently being launched by rabbis, Jewish organizations, and interfaith leaders to challenge the overturning of Roe v. Wade.

Call Jane is rated R, and is not suitable for children. Children ages 13 and under may not be admitted.

Doors will open approximately 30 minutes prior to each screening, and guests can enjoy music videos by Vashtie Kola (BFA 2004 Film and Video) in the lobby while waiting to enter.
