Panelists Include:
Cassidy Williams:
Cassidy Williams is a software engineer and developer evangelist at Venmo, having recently graduated from Iowa State University, where she studied Computer Science! She loves public speaking and has done so at meetups and events like the Grace Hopper Celebration for Women in Computing, the National Center for Women & IT Summit, the U.S. Department of Labor’s Diversity in Tech event, TEDxDesMoines, the United Nations, and the U.S. Science and Engineering Festival. When she’s not at a hackathon or working, she passes the time by playing music and hanging out with her (also techy) sister, Camryn. She wants to inspire generations of STEM students to be the best they can be, and her favorite quote is from Helen Keller: “One can never consent to creep when one feels an impulse to soar.”
Rebecca Garcia:
Rebecca Garcia is the Co-founder of CoderDojo NYC, a non-profit teaching youth to code. In 2013 she was awarded as a U.S. White House ‘Champion of Change’ for Tech Inclusion for her work to bring STEM education to underrepresented groups, especially youth and women. Last year she was listed as one of Glamour Magazine’s ’35 Women Under 35 Who are Changing the Tech Industry’.
Previously she was a Developer at Do Something, the largest U.S. non-profit for youth and social change, and CTO of Greatist, a health, fitness and wellness media startup reaching over 3 million unique visitors. Currently she is a Developer Evangelist at Squarespace, empowering people to build their ideas on the web.
Maitreyi Krishnaswamy:
As the principal manager of Verizon’s consumer video services, Maitreyi Krishnaswamy’s primary focus is the advancement of Verizon’s expanding array of video entertainment products – from subscription television and video on-demand to multiscreen content distribution, interactive user apps and advanced advertising – across the company’s subscription television, online and wireless network platforms.
Prior to this role, Maitreyi simultaneously served as the Director of Cloud Services Product Management, and as the leader of the New Product Development process, within the Verizon Consumer and Mass Business Markets organization.
