Join CineCina for a rare screening of Ruan Lingyu’s 1931 masterpiece LOVE AND DUTY as the 2nd CineCina Film Festival’s OPENING FILM!

Highlight 1: Love and Duty starring Ruan Lingyu

Long considered lost, Love and Duty was accidentally re-discovered in Uruguay in the 1990s and restored in 2K by Taiwan Film Institute and L’Immagine Ritrovata in 2013. It is the earliest surviving film starring Chinese legendary actress Ruan Lingyu. This year also marks the 110th anniversary of her birth.

Highlight 2: Live Musical Accompaniment by Mønochef

Mønochef is a Sound Artist and Music Producer born in Kunming, China and based in Toronto. Life in different cities directly informs his works and the concepts. The way he describes himself is very much a metaphor for the way he creates music-as simple as mono, as fun as a chef. Mønochef released his first EP namely CHI CHU in 2017, and the first album Sound of Toronto in the following year.
