The Stroll Screening and Q&A

As part of After School Special: The 2023 School of Visual Arts Alumni Film & Animation Festival, we are pleased to present a screening of the Sundance Film Festival award-winning, HBO Original documentary The Stroll (2023), followed by a Q&A with the film’s co-director, SVA alumna Zackary Drucker (BFA 2005 Photography). The Q&A will be moderated by current SVA student Melodie Rosen (MFA 2024 Social Documentary Film).
The film will be preceded by the short film Keeping Up with the Claus (2021) by Jaanelle Yee (MPS 2017 Directing).
Synopsis: The history of New York’s Meatpacking District told from the point of view of transgender sex workers who lived and worked there. They recount the violence, policing, and gentrification that lead to a movement for transgender rights.
The Stroll is not rated by the MPAA, and is not suitable for children. Children ages 13 and under may not be admitted.
Doors will open approximately 30 minutes prior to each screening, and guests can enjoy music videos by Vashtie Kola (BFA 2004 Film and Video) in the lobby while waiting to enter.

All After School Special 2023 screenings are free and open to the public. General Admission RSVPs via Eventbrite are appreciated, but not necessary, and do not guarantee admittance. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
