Women Arts Day 2026

Mar 28, 2026 | 3:30 pm

In celebration of Women’s History Month, the Women in the Arts & Media Coalition will host its annual Women Arts Day, in collaboration with SAG-AFTRA, NYWIFT, and the School of Visual Arts’ BFA Film Department.

Join us for a special screening of VIVA VERDI! and ROUND ROBIN.

VIVA VERDI! directed by Yvonne Russo offers an intimate glimpse into the lives of the celebrated opera singers and musicians living out their “third act” at Milan’s Casa Verdi retirement home built in 1896 by the most influential Italian opera composer of the 19th century, Giuseppe Verdi. With aging bodies and timeless passion, these distinguished “guests of Verdi,” ranging in age from 77 to 103, prove age hasn’t dulled their love of music or relentless drive to create: They are still actively creating, performing and mentoring the 16 gifted music students from around the world who study and live among them.

ROUND ROBIN written and directed by Maria Belafonte; offers a world of sequins and smiles, Anna Legare (Michaela Boutros-Ghali), groomed for pageantry since childhood by her mother Patricia (Melora Hardin), grapples with a crushing truth: she’ll never be enough for Patricia’s dreams. Patricia, living vicariously, hopes Anna will achieve the unfulfilled future she once craved. Determined to make her daughter a star, Patricia plunges deeper into a toxic obsession, driving their relationship to a breaking point. As the story unfolds, we witness the agonizing eruption of this mother-daughter bond, leaving scars that shimmer in the harsh spotlight of ambition and desperation.

A talkback after the films will be with the Director and Producer of Viva Verdi, Yvonne Russo (Director) and Christine La Monte (Producer).
