Written in Stone: The Project Class Screening
Thursday, May 21, 2015
Silas Theatre
6:00 pm
Event hosted by: SVA's BFA Design department
Written in Stone is a series of 10 short films directed and written by this year’s “Project Class” from the School of Visual Arts. These students are a group of Graphic Design and Advertising majors, who were challenged by the design department to direct their own films and engage themselves in filmmaking as an alternate way of visual storytelling. They received the opportunity to do so under the instruction of Patti Greaney, producer, Bob Giraldi, award-winning film director, and Alex Dinelaris Jr., Academy award winning screenwriter (Birdman).
Each film is the student’s respective, personal interpretation of one of the 10 Commandments. The stories reflect visualizations of each of their respective given commandment, dealing with various social, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds. The goal for the films was to take them to their greatest potential and to make something truly sensational and exemplary and ultimately, to turn these Commandments inside out.
Participating students include: Claudine Eriksson, Taishi Kawano, Stephen Kingslow, Yoo Mee Kwak, Rhea Manglapus, Noel Nunez, Oret Pena and Chase Tarca.
