From the award-winning director Kazim Öz, the movie Zer tells the story of Jan who embarks on a journey to find the origins of his grandmother’s song to solve the mystery and to embrace his roots.
Rumor has it that a young shepherd went to a village in Dersim, the province of Turkey. There, he fell in love with Zer, the daughter of the landlord. However, the landlord did not let their marriage and he made his daughter marry with another man in a cold winter day against her will. The shepherd and Zer decided to run away from the village but Zer got lost in the snowstorm and got frozen. When the shepherd learned that was the reason why she had not showed up the other day, he lost his mind. He started walking around from village to village with songs about his beloved Zer and his love for her.
After the screening, there will be Q&A session with Mr. Öz and members of the cast.
