"Live From New York!" Documentary Screening and Q&A

As part of After School Special: The 2016 School of Visual Arts Alumni Film & Animation Festival, we are pleased to present a special free screening of the Saturday Night Live documentary Live From New York! (2015), followed by a Q&A with director Bao Nguyen, cinematographer Caleb Heller, and co-editor David Ost (MFA 2011 Social Documentary alumni).  Preceded by a selection of classic TV commercials by Stan Fine (1968 Advertising).  The Q&A will be moderated by current SVA student Chelsi Bullard (MFA 2017 Social Documentary).
Synopsis: Saturday Night Live has been reflecting and influencing life in the United States for over 40 years.  This documentary goes deep inside the cultural phenomenon exploring the laughter that pulses through American politics, tragedy, and popular culture.
Live From New York! is not rated by the MPAA, and some material may be inappropriate for children under the age of 13.  Children under the age of 5 will not be admitted.
…. And come early to enjoy virtual reality and music video experiences in the lobby!
 
Ticket Information
All After School Special festival screenings are free and open to the public. General Admission RSVPs via Eventbrite are appreciated, but not necessary, and do not guarantee admittance. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Doors will open approximately 30 minutes prior to each screening.
 
Concessions Information
A limited amount of free popcorn and water will be offered at all screenings. Otherwise, concessions are not available for purchase at SVA Theatre. Guests are welcome to bring food and drink. Glass bottles and alcohol are not permitted.
