As part of After School Special: The 2018 School of Visual Arts Alumni Film & Animation Festival, we are pleased to present a special screening of the Netflix Original documentary One of Us (2017), followed by a Q&A with the film’s cinematographer, SVA alumna Jenni Morello (MFA 2011 Social Documentary). The documentary will be preceded by the short film series Dreamed, about DACA immigrants navigating the current political climate, created for Topic.com by SVA alumnus Raúl Paz-Pastrana (MFA 2012 Social Documentary).  The Q&A will be moderated by current student Olivia Garzon (MFA 2019 Social Documentary Film).
Synopsis: In the wake of trauma and abuse, three Hasidic Jews face ostracism, anxiety and danger as they attempt to leave their ultra-Orthodox community.
One of Us is rated TV-14, and some material may be inappropriate for children under the age of 14. Children under the age of 5 may not be admitted.
