Collecting Medieval Art: Past, Present & Future
Saturday, January 27, 2018 9:30 am
Event hosted by: Luhring Augustine
Luhring Augustine will host a symposium exploring the collecting of medieval art through past, present, and future. Every surviving treasure of medieval art has a unique material history spanning centuries. These precious objects have been traded, preserved, restored, lent, gifted, and loved. The histories of collections and collectors yield valuable insights into art from the Middle Ages that enriches the private and public art collections of today. Speakers will include experts in the field of medieval art, from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, London’s Victoria & Albert Museum, and other institutions.
The symposium is free to attend, but guests should RSVP to [email protected]. The event will include a morning coffee service.
The symposium is organized in conjunction with the exhibition Of Earth and Heaven: Art from the Middle Ages (January 27,March 10, 2018) in association with Sam Fogg, a leading London-based dealer in medieval art.
