The Board of Trustees of the W. Eugene Smith Memorial Fund invites you to the presentation of the 40th Annual W. Eugene Smith Awards in Humanistic Photography and 23rd Annual Howard Chapnick Grant for the Advancement of Photojournalism.
Attendees will see the best photojournalism and documentary photography created around the world in 2019. Award-winning photographers will personally share their motivation for creating these powerful images which create an up-close-and-personal look at events that impact our lives today, and in the future.
The keynote will be presented by Susan Zirinsky, president and senior executive director at CBS News. Ms. Zirinsky is also served as the inspiration for Holly Hunter’s character in the film, “Broadcast News.” Ms. Zirinsky produced award-winning documentaries, specials, and programs covering historic stories, from the Gulf War to the Tiananmen Square uprising, the 9/11 attacks to the Parkland mass shooting.
