Monday, September 10, 2018 7:30 pm
Event hosted by: School of Visual Arts
As part of After School Special: The 2018 School of Visual Arts Alumni Film & Animation Festival, we are pleased to present the world premiere of the new documentary Take a Look at This Heart (2018) by SVA alumnus Ben Duffy (BFA 2014 Film and Video), followed by a Q&A with Duffy, cinematographers Wayland Bell and Michael J. Sassano (both SVA BFA Film and Video alumni), and dancer/entrepreneur Chelsie Hill, one of the film’s subjects. The documentary will be preceded by the short film Good Bones by SVA alumna Anaïs La Rocca (BFA 2011 Advertising). The Q&A will be moderated by current student Arianna Pogact (BFA 2019 Film).
Synopsis: A film about love, sexuality, and the human bond within the disabled community. A journey into the lives of 17 very unique people; some with disabilities and the partners who love them, others struggling to get by in a world that seems to often overlook them. In exploring the confidence and unconditional love that these humans have for themselves and each other, you may begin to question your own notions on life, love, and what it means to really feel in every sense of the word.
The films shown at this event are not rated by the MPAA, and some material may be inappropriate for children under the age of 13. Children under the age of 5 may not be admitted.
…. And come early to enjoy augmented and virtual reality and music video experiences in the lobby.
