As part of After School Special: The 2018 School of Visual Arts Alumni Film & Animation Festival, we are pleased to present a screening of the hit movie musical The Greatest Showman (2017), followed by a Q&A with SVA alumni from the BFA Computer Art, Computer Animation and Visual Effects program who worked on the film’s visual effects — Jasmine Carruthers, Mina Choe, and Elana Lederman. Join us and feel free to sing along! The film will be preceded by a short documentary about drag kid Desmond Napoles (aka Desmond Is Amazing), created by SVA alumni from the MFA Social Documentary program, Adam Banicki and Lucas Groth, for Fatherly.com. The Q&A will be moderated by current student Gabriel Aguirre (BFA 2020 Computer Art, Computer Animation and Visual Effects).
Synopsis: Inspired by the imagination of P. T. Barnum, The Greatest Showman is an original musical that celebrates the birth of show business & tells of a visionary who rose from nothing to create a spectacle that became a worldwide sensation.
The Greatest Showman is rated PG, and some material may be inappropriate for children under the age of 8. Children under the age of 5 may not be admitted.
…. And come early to enjoy augmented and virtual reality and music video experiences in the lobby.
